Experience

Chartered quantity surveyor and chartered arbitrator with 40 years experience of building and civil engineering contracts. First half of career spent in
quantity surveying positions in private practice, local authority and with building contractors, culminating in the position of surveying director for a medium
sized contractor. Worked in construction contract consultancy and as an expert witness since 1985. Personal appointments as arbitrator, adjudicator
and independent expert since 1998.

Sound working knowledge of standard forms of contract including JCT suite of contracts, ICE, FIDIC, GC/Works/1, I.Chem.E. NEC/ECC and related standard forms of sub-contract or works contract.

Experienced arbitrator, adjudicator, independent expert, expert witness, party representative and lay advocate.

Types of construction work include:

- public sector buildings including hospitals, schools, universities, fire stations, police stations, ambulance stations, libraries, defence establishments, scientific research establishments
- low-rise, medium rise and high-rise housing schemes in both public and private sectors
- timber framed construction
- mechanical and electrical services installations
- industrial and commercial schemes including offices, factories and warehousing
-retail and leisure schemes including shops, hotels and sports arenas
- road and sewer works, water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, bridge works.

Contract values to and in excess of £100 million, but predominantly in the range of £50,000 to £10 million.
